AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): More than 9 million pilgrims are expected to visit Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad considering the long holiday of Nowruz this year, says the director of the Holy Places and Pilgrims Affairs of Astan Quds Razavi.
“All the sacred places and the surroundings will be carpeted in an area of 300,000 square meters,” said Seyyed Khalil Monabbati.
He also mentioned that the parking lots 1 and 3 will be carpeted in case it rains.
Referring to the measures taken for the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s Nowruz speech, he announced that the department has made plans for pilgrims’ traffic months ago.
“This year, 90 large flat-screen TVs will be installed in various parts of the sacred places, including parking lots to cover the Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech and pilgrims and neighbors taking into account the vast masses of pilgrims in Imam Khomeini’s Portico can enjoy his remarks in other places,” he expressed.
Some 30,000 servants of the consignment offices are ready to receive the items of pilgrims, given the big crowds of pilgrims at entrances, Monabbati said calling on the visitors to refrain from bringing prohibited items to the holy shrine.
Monabbati further advised pilgrims to use the anticipated parking spaces around the shrine.
