AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Referring to the health conditions of Nigeria Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky, the secretary general of Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly said that the Nigerian government is responsible for any danger and physical harm to Sheikh Zakzaki and should be held accountable.
Hujjat al-Islam Muhammad Hassan Akhtari in Radio interview referred to the incident in Nigeria several years ago at Quds Day, saying that on that day a large number of followers and sons of Sheikh Zakzaki were wounded and martyred, and eventually led to the arrest and imprisonment of the Sheikh Zakzaki. Since then, he has been in custody.
"There have also been requests from great scholars, even Sunni scholars, for the release of Sheikh Zakzaky. Many requests from scholars and personalities from other countries have been resultless for the pressure from Saudi Arabia, the Zionists and their allies", he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Akhtari said that sheikh Zakzaki recently lost one of her eyes and said that his second eye is also badly damaged and physically he is weak and sick. He said: "in the past two months, a group of human rights has met with Sheikh Zakzky and his blood lead has increased, and no particular cure has been made."
