EX-CHAIRMAN SENATE QUESTIONS PAKISTAN NEUTRALITY ON YEMEN CRISIS

Incumbent Senator Raza Rabbani who also served as Senate Chairman during last term has raised the question of neutrality of Pakistan’s foreign policy under PTI-led government of Imran Khan on Yemen crisis.
He said there were reports that Pakistan had decided to support Saudi Arabia. He asked if it meant that the country was taking sides in the Yemen conflict and not maintaining neutrality.
He also criticised the government for what he called overplaying the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, saying that the Indian government had almost ridiculed Pakistan on the occasion also criticized it on other issues.
“The house has not even been informed about the details of the Taliban-US talks,” PPP senator said.
Foreign Minister began his speech in a calm tone by telling the house that he had briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Relations headed by Senator Mushahid Hussain of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on all these issues.
“We are working on our policy lines,” he said, adding that some decisions had been made public and some were under discussion.
