PAKISTANI DIPLOMAT HAILS PRESIDENT ROUHANI UN SPEECH AGAINST INSANE TRUMP

A former Pakistani ambassador says Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) was rational while the US President Donald Trump seemed insane in his remarks.
In an interview, Rustam Shah Mohmand said one was the speech of insanity the other was the speech of prudence, wisdom, foresight and compassion.
“This is the main difference between the two speeches,” he said The analyst said that speech of the US President Donald Trump was mocked by even those who were listening to it and he did not look a normal person delivering the speech at such an important forum.
He added Iranian President Hassan Rouhani talked sensibly, his speech was rational and his argument was based on the ground realities.
The expert on international affairs said that lot of European countries which have now decided to continue trading with Iran would be strengthened in their conviction to promote bilateral relations with Iran irrespective of whether the Americans are imposing more sanctions or not.
“So the American sanctions would not have the intended implications as contemplated by President Trump,” Rustam Shah Mohmand viewed.
Former ambassador went on to say that Iran’s trade with the European countries would go ahead and would grow even stronger because there are problems between America and Europe not only on Iran nuclear deal but also on climate change or Trans-Pacific agreement that America walked out of.
“So there is growing divergence of perception between the Europeans and the Americans and Iran can use this to its own advantage,” he said.
He said that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has rightly criticized the US for withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Rustam Shah Mohmand added that all disagreements would end after a sustained dialogue that is the only logical, rational and wise course to adopt.
“If you shut doors on negotiation then other options are very unpleasant, which are ruthless, which can lead to war, which lead to more bloodshed,” he warned.
