A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iran is in possession of missiles with a range enough to reach Israel.
“We do not need missiles with a range of over 2,000 kilometers. The longest range required for [Iran’s] missiles is the [Israeli] occupied lands,” Commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh told reporters on Tuesday, adding that Iran has already the necessary missiles for this purpose.
Iran is a country capable of producing missiles, the IRGC commander said, adding, “The Zionist regime is our biggest target.”
IRGC commander, Major General Mohammad Ali Ja'fari, had also said in March that the Israeli occupied Palestinian territories are within the reach of most of the Islamic Republic’s missiles.
Later in July, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the IRGC's second-in-command, said the Tel Aviv regime is on the verge of complete collapse, stressing that more than 100,000 domestically-manufactured Qaem missiles based in Lebanon are ready to target the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
“Today, only in Lebanon, more than 100,000 Qaem missiles are ready for launch … so that any time the Zionist regime seeks to repeat its previous mistakes with miscalculations, these missiles would … hit the Zionist regime at its heart,” Salami said.
Zolfaqar missiles operational by year-end
Zolfaqar, with a range of 750 kilometers, is a multiple reentry vehicle (MRV) missile capable of carrying several warheads.
It is the latest generation of Iran’s long-range missiles and can carry out precision strikes against targets on the ground and airport tarmacs.
In recent years, Iran has broken new grounds with regard to its defense capability and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
The country has also conducted military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art army equipment, Press TV reported.
